WHAT A TYPICAL COURSE ACTUALLY COSTS

Most people are looking at €250 to €310 in total.

A course is usually three to five sessions. That means a first appointment at €70 and two to four follow-ups at €60 — so €250 for four sessions, €310 for five.

We’re publishing that rather than selling you a package, because the honest version is more useful. You still pay as you go, and if you need fewer sessions you pay for fewer. Nobody here is trying to get you to ten.

How the money works

No surprises

  • You pay per session. Not for a block of six decided before anyone has looked at you.
  • You can stop at any point. No notice, no explanation needed, nothing owed.
  • If it isn’t working, we’ll say so. Continuing to book someone in who isn’t responding is how clinics get a bad name.
  • If you’re not suitable, there’s no charge for finding out. Ask first and we’ll tell you before you travel.
  • Nothing is added on. The price is the price — gel, applicators and advice are part of it.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Nobody can honestly tell you that in advance. It depends on the condition, how long it’s been there, the area being treated and how you respond.

What we can say is that it’s normally a short course spaced over a few weeks rather than a single visit. For heel pain, the manufacturer’s own guidance puts a typical course in the region of three to five sessions.

We review as we go. If the area is responding, we keep going. If it isn’t, we stop and talk about what else might suit you better.

The question everybody asks

How long until the pain goes?

Here is the honest shape of it. Not a promise — a realistic picture of how this usually unfolds, so you know whether it’s working or not.

Day 1
First appointment

Some people feel a difference walking out

Shockwave has an immediate analgesic effect for some people — the area feels looser or less sharp straight away. Others feel nothing on day one, and that is not a sign it has failed. Expect some tenderness in the area for a day or two afterwards; that is normal and it settles.

Weeks 1–4
The course

Sessions about a week apart

Most courses run three to five sessions spaced roughly weekly. Changes through this period are usually gradual rather than dramatic — a bit less pain on the stairs, a slightly easier first step in the morning. We review at every visit, and those small markers are what we track.

Weeks 4–12
Where the real change happens

The tissue keeps responding after treatment stops

This is the part people don’t expect. The biological response shockwave sets off continues well beyond the last session, and the fuller effect is commonly felt around the three-month mark rather than at the end of the course. Clinics that review patients three months after treatment do so for exactly this reason.

If not
The honest part

Not everybody responds

Some people get little or nothing from it. If there is no meaningful change by the end of a course, we will say so rather than book you in again, and we will talk about what else might suit the problem better.

Between sessions

The exercises are half the treatment

This is the part nobody wants to hear, so we’ll say it plainly: shockwave on its own is rarely the whole answer for a tendon problem.

The treatment stimulates the tissue. Loading it properly afterwards is what teaches it to tolerate the thing that hurt it in the first place. The published work on tendinopathy consistently pairs the two, and so do we.

You get a written programme, and it’s included. No extra charge, no upsell to a separate rehab package.

WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE

  • Two or three exercises, not twenty. A programme you won’t do is worth nothing.
  • Written down, with how many and how often. You leave with it, not a vague instruction to “keep it moving”.
  • Progressed as you improve. What works in week one is too easy by week four.
  • Consistency beats effort. Ten minutes most days does more than an hour once a week.
  • Some discomfort while loading is usually fine. We’ll tell you where the line is for your problem.
Already with a physio or coach? Keep going. We’ll fit around what you’re doing rather than duplicate it — send us the programme and we’ll work with it.
